Save the date November 14th for the opportunity to learn from Dr Kimberly Ivory – who has had a pivotal role in the innovative production Grace Under Pressure, as well as working wiht LGBTQI groups in Mongolia.
Grace Under Pressure is a play that weaves together the experiences of health professionals. Medicine and nursing are often referred to as “caring” professions, yet bullying, harassment and “teaching by humiliation” are a common experience in hospitals, particularly for students and interns. It’s often not spoken about, but this verbatim play was written from interviews with interns, medical and nursing students, as well as senior allied health professionals and representatives from the specialist colleges and peak bodies.
Kimberley Ivory teaches medical students and general practitioners to understand and communicate effectively within diversity using a cultural humility framework. Her research interest is the impact of stigma and discrimination on health outcomes. She is currently collaborating with the Centre for Values, Ethics and the Law in Medicine and the Department of Performance Studies at the University of Sydney to develop a series of workshops to help healthcare students and their teachers embody and enact the positive professional qualities they want to see in their workplaces.
